Montessori loving parents in the Greater Cincinnati area can count ourselves fortunate indeed that we live in an area of the country where we have so many Montessori schools from which to choose. While most of the schools share Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy and work to uphold the American Montessori Society’s “Key Concepts and Practices,” not every school is an ideal fit for every family. Just like the students we teach and strive to meet where they are as individuals, schools and families have their own uniqueness.

The community at Cornerstone Montessori School is a closely knit one, where open communication and partnership between the school and families is highly valued. Parents who work with their child’s teachers cooperatively to bring about the best possible education experience for their child, have made CMS the success it has become. The highest qualified teachers and the most willing students can only go so far without the enthusiastic involvement and support of the parents; this hold especially true for a small, non-profit organization.

CMS works to model what it means to be a caring, responsible, kind, honest, generous, peaceful, hard-working, dependable citizen. Families who value and model the same for their children and those around them, find our school a lovely place to be. In an environment of mutual trust and respect, everyone flourishes.

While the benefits of Montessori for early childhood education are well known, the benefits of the program for elementary and middle school years are less often touted. Happily, we know firsthand how well prepared our middle school students are when they graduate from our program.

There are benefits to be found in schools of all different shapes, sizes and philosophies. However, we believe that CMS fills a small but very valuable niche: not only do our small class sizes offer up many of the same benefits as home-schooling without the work and added responsibility for parents, but our program offers the opportunity for children to begin their educational journey with us at age 3 and continue on in the same, nurturing environment, the same school family until they are confidently ready to venture off into their high school career.

We think that’s pretty special, but most importantly, our graduates do too.
